Patients who come to the plastic surgeon for a rhinoplasty are either those that aren't satisfied with the aesthetic form of the nose in relation to the rest of the face, or the ones that having had an injury of some sort seek to correct any malformations that were caused by the accident. The goal of the rhinoplasty is to restore the harmony of the nose in relation to the face as a single aesthetic unit. A crooked or broken nose can be easily corrected by an experienced plastic surgeon.
The nasal septum is made of bone and cartilage and consists the part of the nose that separates the nostrils. Quite often it's the septum that is responsible for aesthetic as well as functional problems (eg difficulty breathing, snoring). The correction of the septum and the restoration of the external nasal deformities are both done in one operation.

The entire operation is performed through the nostrils, so that no external incisions are made except in rare cases. The nasal skin is detached from the nasal skeleton and consequtively thebony and cartilaginous parts are corrected accordingly. Becomes detached from the skin osteochondrino frame and then, depending on the problem.
The operation is performed under general anesthesia. Finishing the operation the nostrils are closed with gauge which is removed after 48 hours. An exterior plaster may be needed which is removed after 5 to 7 days.
The thorough discussion during the consultation between doctor and patient ensures the success of the procedure.
